Don’t Expect TCL to Support AirPlay 2 in Its Smart TVs Any Time Soon

Image
Apple decided that 2019 was going to start off with a bang as the company announced that AirPlay 2 support was landing on several different smart TVs from different brands. So far up to this point, Samsung kicked things off in announcing AirPlay 2 support for its smart TV lineup. Soon after that, we heard that Vizio was doing the same thing , followed by Sony and LG announcing support . That basically means all of the major TV manufacturers are on board with this, which makes sense as Apple is going big with this particular shift in strategy. Of course, with all the attention being put on the biggest TV manufacturers, what about some of the other brands out there? TCL, for instance, has started to gain traction with the TV market in the United States, so would that company be adopting support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit at some point in the future? Turns out that’s a big no. MacRumors got a comment from a TCL spokesperson on this very subject, learning that the tV manufacturer ha...

Apple Watch Series 4 and ECG App Helped One Man Identify AFIB Heart Condition

Image
The Apple Watch Series 4 launched not too long ago, and Apple (eventually) brought with it a brand new ECG app that’s meant to help identify specific heart irregularities. And while some doctors are on the fence on whether or not the ECG app in the newest Apple-branded smartwatch is a good thing or not , the device has already been pegged for potentially saving one person’s life even before the end of 2018 . And now, just as 2019 is getting started, we have another report that says the new app was crucial in identifying AFIB heart conditions in one man over the holidays. WMUR has the report on Wednesday, telling the story of Barry Madden, a self-identified “tech geek”, who purchased the new Apple Watch Series 4 mainly for its ability to detect falls. Madden suffered a brain injury in the past, and he figured that particular feature would be a good one to have, just in case. And to help him keep a better eye on his overall health. But it turns out the ECG app act...

Apple Reportedly Told Chinese iPhone Venders to Drop iPhone 8, iPhone XR, iPhone XS and XS Max Prices

Image
There are always two sides to every story, and that definitely appears to be the case when it comes to how the iPhone market is doing. Earlier today, there was a report that Apple had cut iPhone XS and iPhone XR production by upwards of 10 percent for the firs quarter of 2019. And that comes after plenty of other analyst memos and separate reports that have suggested that Apple’s iPhone sales aren’t that great. Of course, it probably doesn’t help that Apple warned of a less-than-stellar first fiscal quarter coming up. Still, Apple is confident in the iPhone, and has said that the iPhone XR, specifically, is doing just fine . Here we are with another report out of China, though, painting a different picture. According to National Business Daily , Apple has informed Chinese vendors to cut the price of several different iPhone models. That includes the iPhone 8, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. The report indicates that the majority of the models are seeing a di...

Tim Cook: New Services Launching in 2019; Wearable Business Revenue Has Exceeded iPod Business by 50 Percent

Image
In his extensive interview with Mad Money’s Jim Cramer, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the company’s most important contribution to mankind will be in health. Tim Cook spoke about varying topics in the interview and dismissed reports of the iPhone XR not doing well as a part of it. The CEO even hinted at Apple launching new services this year. Cook revealed this when Cramer asked him how Apple would increase the total contribution of its Services business to its total revenue. He did not go into the specifics but clearly stated that Apple will announce new services this year, with “more things coming” and the company working on them for a few years now. On services, you will see us announce new services this year. There will more things coming. I don’t wanna tell you about what they are and I’m not gonna forecast precisely, the ramps and so forth. But they’re things that we feel really great about, that we’ve been working on for multiple years. Apple is rumored to...

Tim Cook Says ‘Bologna on That’ in Regards to Reports of the iPhone XR Being a ‘Flop’

Image
As mentioned earlier today, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, took some time out of his schedule to discuss Apple’s current state of affairs . And, unsurprisingly, the chief executive wasn’t having any of it when it comes to dark times for the company. CNBC shared some of the major points earlier today, but one of the more interesting parts that came out of the full interview was Cook’s stance on how the iPhone XR — the company’s other iPhone it launched late last year alongside the iPhone XS and XS Max — is faring out there in the market. As you may have heard by now, some folks don’t think the iPhone XR is doing too well. However, Apple has never agreed with that belief . While the company won’t go into the nitty gritty details, and won’t even offer sales numbers for the iPhone lineup later this month during its upcoming quarterly earnings call, Cook did reiterate that the iPhone XR has been the most popular iPhone for customers to buy...
